As part of International Archives Day (June 9), the City of Archives presents another exhibition highlighting the richness of documentary collections, bringing together contributions from archives and their partners.
This initiative invites visitors to discover the memories of the city of Barreiro through food, revealing how gastronomy is embedded in local history and in the everyday life of its communities.
Throughout the exhibition route, visitors can explore the connection between food and the different sectors of activity: from the primary sector, involving the production of raw materials such as fishing and agriculture; to the secondary sector, associated with food processing and preservation, with particular emphasis on industry; and finally the tertiary sector, where commerce, restaurants, and services continue and promote these practices.
In this way, the exhibition highlights how eating, drinking, cooking, and seasoning reflect not only cultural habits, but also the economic and social organization of the territory over time.General public
