Barreiro em curtas

The Barreiro em Curtas project now joins the partner network of Barreiro, City of Archives, reinforcing a shared vision for valuing memory, local history, and the municipality’s documentary heritage.
Coordinated by the Casquilhos School Cluster and the Barreiro Film Club, in partnership with the National Cinema Plan and the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), Barreiro em Curtas involves students from 1st to 12th grade in creating short films inspired by the history, people, places, and memories of Barreiro.
The project is carried out through the joint work of students, teachers, and trainers/directors of live-action and animated documentary film, offering experiences in research, writing, production, and filmmaking. In this process, archives serve as privileged sources of knowledge, making it possible to discover and interpret documents, images, testimonies, and stories that help build new narratives about Barreiro’s identity.
By joining Barreiro em Curtas, Barreiro, City of Archives reinforces its mission to bring citizens closer to the municipality’s documentary heritage, promoting its knowledge, appreciation, and dissemination among new generations.
