CHAPAS – Clube História e Acervo Português da Actividade Seguradora is a non-profit association established in 2011 to preserve, promote and disseminate the history of insurance in Portugal.

CHAPAS gathers, through donations from institutions and insurance professionals, a collection that was rather scattered and much of which was in danger of being lost forever.

Our collection stands out for its originality and uniqueness and is of undeniable historical interest, with the oldest document dating from 1794.

The collection consists of 15000 units, including documentation, pieces, and library, and is constantly growing. 

The archives and exhibition room offer guided tours and free visits, organize events and encourage research work.
